How does the scanning process work?

Once you have activated mail forwarding to PEAX, your incoming mail will be automatically recognized by Swiss Post and forwarded to our scanning center. There, the items will be digitized and made available in your PEAX portal. The entire process is automated, traceable, and organized in accordance with data protection regulations.

Scanning process

Sending mail
A sender sends a letter to your official business or private address.

Sorting by the postal service
The item is processed at the postal service's sorting center. As soon as the system recognizes that an active mail forwarding address is stored for this address, the item is marked accordingly.

Marking of the item
The postal service attaches a unique label to the envelope. A PEAX ID is printed on the label, which later enables the item to be clearly assigned to the correct account.

Forwarding to the scanning center
The item is then automatically forwarded to our scanning center.

Identification of the item
At the scanning center, the letter is uniquely identified by its PEAX ID and assigned to the corresponding PEAX account.

Opening and scanning
The items are automatically opened and digitized using high-performance scanners. All pages are scanned in their entirety.

Digital processing
After scanning, the documents are processed and securely uploaded to the PEAX portal. They are then available to you in digital form.

Storage of originals
The physical original documents are stored securely for 30 days after scanning. Within this period, you can order a document as an original if required.

Destruction of documents
After the storage period has expired, the originals are destroyed in accordance with data protection regulations and in a professional manner.
