Is confidential or personal mail opened?
In order for your mail to be made available digitally in the PEAX portal, incoming items must be opened and scanned. For this reason, all letters are opened and digitized as part of the scanning process.
This includes mail marked by the sender as confidential, personal, private, or similar. Such markings do not prevent the scanning process, as the contents of the mail must be delivered digitally in order to be available in the PEAX portal.
The entire process takes place in a specially designed scanning center and is subject to strict data protection and security guidelines. Mail processing is largely automated.
