How does mail need to be addressed in order to be forwarded?

Swiss Post uses a sorting machine to redirect physical mail through PEAX.

Machine sorting only works if the recipient on the mail can be assigned to an active mail forwarding order.

This is only possible if the recipient can be identified reliably through machine scanning.

The recipient details on your physical mail must therefore be consistent and identical to those you have stored in your PEAX profile.

Note: Letters addressed by hand or letters with different names (e.g. extended first names and last names) are not always recognised by the distributing machine and are thus delivered physically.

We recommend the following procedure for second or double names:

1. have Swiss Post add your entire name (second name, double name) to your Swiss Post account. You can either do this online directly in your Swiss Post login or by calling Swiss Post.

2. enter your complete name (incl. second and/or double name) on PEAX. For a subsequent name change, you can contact support@peax.ch.

3. activate mail forwarding for your full name and correct address. With these measures, any name combinations should be reliably redirected.

Only mail with a correct user’s or company's name will be forwarded. See examples:
