How must mail be addressed in order for it to be redirected?

The redirection order for physical mail via PEAX is implemented by Swiss Post using an automated distribution system. Automated distribution is only successful if the recipient (the address) can be assigned to an active mail redirection order.

The assignment can only take place if the recipient can be identified with sufficient probability by machine scanning.

This means that the recipient data on your physical letters must be consistent and identical to the data you have stored in your PEAX profile.

Note: Handwritten letters or letters with different names (e.g., extended first and last names) are not always recognized by the sorting machine and are therefore delivered physically.

For middle names or double names, we recommend:

1. Have your full name (middle name, double name) added to your postal account at the post office. You can do this online, by phone, or at any post office counter.

2. Enter your full name (including middle and/or double names) in your PEAX profile. To change your name at a later date, please contact support@peax.ch.

3. Activate mail forwarding for your full name and correct address. These measures should ensure that all name combinations are forwarded.

Important: It is the user's responsibility to inform all senders of the correct address and to ensure that it matches the information in the PEAX profile. This is the only way to ensure that mail is reliably redirected.
